Day 105: Total Reversals in Life: Friend or Foe?
Today I just wanted to reiterate how important motivation is in the life of an entrepreneur. I have found that motivation is something that I’ve had to cultivate within me as a means to better myself, along with other qualities that I already possess, but qualities that needed some TLC like my tenacity, boldness, sense of routine, patience and not settling for anything less than my dream. I believe that through each part of myself that I’ve had to work on, I’ve also come up against parts of my past self that were hurt or in some kind of pain. Realistically this journey has been a full scale life practice for bettering myself, and for that I’m truly thankful.
But somehow today is better than yesterday. I met up with my older sister and hung out for a bit with her on her lunch break, which always makes me feel better. When you have fun with your sibling and laughter just comes out naturally, everything is better.
Then I went for lunch with my girl Mishka, and had awesome Vietnamese at Gingers on Bloor where I decided that the best and only way to get myself back on track with my line is to just set myself another challenge. I’m loving challenges these days! I think by nature I’m a competitive person, and this way I’m being competitive with myself. I want to have all my ingredient research done before the end of October. So over the course of the next 7 days, I am devoting 2 hours of my time to researching two different ingredients each day. I think that this way, I will be able to better keep myself on track and actually gain some kind of momentum. We will see.
After lunch, I came to work and found out that I’m getting a wee promotion to start helping to buy for one of the mineral makeup and nail polish lines! Talk about a series of fortunate events! This promotion comes out of my Manager, Assistant Managers and Body Care Buyer recognizing that I have awesome organizing skills. It didn’t even bother me that the way they told me was jokingly to pretend that I was in trouble. My ATL Laine goes, “follow me, we need to talk to you about something. We’ve noticed that you’ve been doing some things well…And we’ve noticed that…you’ve been doing some things….Really, really well!" Can you say anxiety?! I nearly had a heart attack, because I hate getting in trouble. LOL.
This cascade of good things has my mindset in a way better place than it was yesterday and I think that my motivation is back on track too. I think also pouring out some positivity even in the face of adversity also acted as a catalyst for some much needed change in stagnation. Which obviously makes me feel pretty awesome.
And then I came across this GIF and figured I may as well share this beauty. I think I do deserve some good change and in the spirit of keeping myself on track, so do you! Enjoy!
So let me ask you a question. Have you ever had a low moment in life that has created a real stagnantion for you and then all of a sudden things turn around completely? Do you roll with the punches or ride the wave? Let me know here on the blog (www.urbanminerals.ca
