Day 90: Working Together, Yet Separately.

by Sarah Devika Sumnauth

Today I got a visit from my good friend, Mishka, at work and we got down to talking about some business.

It would seem that both of us are on track to start miraculous new businesses, both quite different in structure and intention from the other but similar in that they both want to make an impact in this world. And because we are friends we’re going to set a date to get together soon and work on them together, yet seperately.

I think in this process we will both be able to gain something from nothing.  None of the work we would be doing is for the other persons business, but yet the outcomes would be influenced greatly by that fact that we share and grow great vibes when we work together.  I find that to be the most useful thing of all, because as much as I like to hunker down in my office and get to work, I also really enjoy working with a compatible work buddy and get the positive energy up and flowing.  That’s where the best work, ideas and inspiration appear, and I personally can’t wait to get to it.

Until then, I just want to share this idea with you.  “The greatest good you can do for another is not just to share your riches but to reveal to him his own” - Benjamin Disraeli.  I love this notion, because it has everything to do with how I feel about working with others.  When Mishka and I sit down to work together yet separately, this will be the outcome.  We will be sharing space and place and all that jazz, but also we will help one another to view the things that separately we might never see.  And that’s why it’s so important to be able to work together yet separately, without competition and with only love for the other.  I can’t wait!
