Goodmorning sleepy sun! (Taken with Instagram)
Day 51: Early Mornings, Reunions and Serious, Grown Up Talks?
So today was a full day for me, before 10 am. I would just like to point out that I’m not trying to be pretentious, but that my life has so drastically changed that I now rise at 5:30am instead of 11:00am and I somehow get my butt in gear, ready to learn and be a good participant in under a half hour…(novel, and oh so unlike my previous self, except the part about liking to learn new stuff).
I had my first vendor training this morning with the Whole Foods, Whole Body team, and let me just tell you that my mind, consistently, has felt full to the brim, in the “I think I may explode if I learn one more new thing - but if I do, I may kind of enjoy it” kind of a way.
It’s not bad at all. In fact, I would go so far as to say that it is quite enjoyable. Considering that the people that I’m working with are wonderful, the information I’m gaining is useful and the knowledge that I’m taking away is of actual interest and importance to Urban Minerals, then ya, you could say I’m enjoying the process a lot.
I feel like the parts of myself that I felt comfortable with before, like all of my knowledge of Green Beauty products, is expanding and my understandings of body care in relation to mineral supplements has legitimately grown x 1000. No word of a lie, but I feel as though I’m in more of a growth phase now, than ever. Which kinda rocks.
Fast forward to after my training. I met up with my good friend Mishka, and we sipped herbal tea and caught up. World traveler that she is, she had just come back from a month and a half long trip to Spain, France and England and my oh my, it was so awesome to hear about all of her experiences and kind of live vicariously through her for a bit, but also to catch up and recap about how life has been going since she left.
I just have to mention how important it is to have great friends in your life to share your life with. Not only is it great to share what’s going down on the streets, but also, like our friendship, have someone who you just vibe off of. We vibe because we’re both on paths to create new and wonderful things, and each of us is experiencing challenges in our own ways. We’re both young, and have yet to gain true success but that is not to say that we aren’t successful in our friendship.
Throughout our conversation and beyond, I got a ton of inspiration, and I felt like coming home to do work, a wonderful side effect of heightened energy for me. I felt like sharing with you a tidbit of how awesome our conversation was. One of the things that I came away with was the understanding that putting out positivity is the reason why the universe rewards us. In her life, she was able to get a couple really great freebies while on her travels as a result of the good work she’s doing. (Quickly, the girl is working on a project called Circulating Vibes, a kind of mechanism for wonderful personal inspiration, change on all levels of society and a social movement that you may just come across if you’re lucky enough to. Get in the know here.)
In my life, likewise, I feel as though the positivity I put into this blog, running up to Urban Minerals launch next June, and into my every day interactions with others, has brought the wonderful rewards of a brand new job that I love. Even today, I got my first real affirmation that people other than my friends and fam are enjoying my work here, from a fellow new business owner and as a result of a close friendship with my grade 7 locker buddy who also happens to be freakin’ hilarious and an online marketing maven - get to know Waste of Heels - it’s snarky ridiculousness and the stuff you wish you could say but can’t because you obviously live in the real world and people would most likely hit you - she says it and way funnier than physically possible…plus she’s a redhead…Go now!
So in the pursuit of good times and inspirational talks, shit kinda got real. We started talking about the necessity of looking forward; to understanding that transitions are necessary and that strategies are kind of important when making decisions about career and life. Of course this got my rebellious side going. All I mean to say is that I think these things are valid but never in spite of yourself and always in ways that make you feel good about your choices. Essentially, it’s all about your process, and never about someone else’s rules. True story.
Whoever you are, and whatever you’re doing, keep up the good work. You got this one in the bag, and whether your journey looks anything like mine or not, you can do anything you put your mind to. You are as beautiful as the sunrise in today’s Instagram pic. But unlike the sun, you can rise whenever you choose. Just don’t be discouraged if there are trees in your way - one of these days you’ll be so high up, it won’t matter.
I told ya it was a full day…
