Movements!

by Sarah Devika Sumnauth

So today was what you could call a movement day. I got to move forward with some key aspects of my business while also maintaining a level of fun at the same time. Planning, packaging, branding, strategy, shipping, analysis, metrics, video…all things I can’t wait to see in tangible form. At least that’s how I would like to remember it. Let me explain.

Last night I went over some financial information for my business plan. In realizing that I have so many things in progress and not finalized yet, it became apparent that I wouldn’t be able to move ahead with my projections and planning until other things got shifted. And without being able to talk to key people In the moment, I started to spin out into a ball of stress.

Not cool.

Fast forward to this morning. After waking up, I still felt stressed. So like I promised myself, when in moments of doubt, occupied my time with something else that could better serve me. Fortuitously, this meant watching Marie Forleo’s video training “How To Get Anything You Want.” Which was exactly what I needed.

This video basically gave out some facts, of which I took away that the most important things in a business and in life too are to stop saying can’t when you really mean won’t and also to figure out what you can do in the moment.

Which is what I did.

I made a list of 20 potential ways of getting around my issue, and made movements on them in a concise way. By 8:30 this evening, things felt back to normal and I actually got some great news about my foundation base from my chemical engineer. Amazing.

I also have to give a shout out to Dr. Jennifer Dean, a fellow BSchool babe who I met today by virtue of her reaching out to me because of our shared geographical space. It turns out that we have a lot more in common than a love of Marie Forleo and natural approaches to life. Like spooky amounts of things in common. But hey, that’s a blog for another day. Regardless, this chance encounter was the most fun part of my day and that’s the part I want to remember when I think back a year from now about all those trying days.

Which just goes to show that despite what you feel in the moment, you can always flip it. It may take time and action but wouldn’t you rather just feel better?

Ya, I thought so.

On to tomorrow to tackle something else wonderful and strange.

With nothing but love,

Sarah
