Day 120: Coming Clean in New Beginnings

by Sarah Devika Sumnauth

So today I took the morning to clean house. From time to time I find it extremely necessary to overhaul my office, my bedroom and really give my whole house a good once over. This process can be therapeutic and cathartic because inevitably you let go of things that no longer serve you.

I think as 2012 slowly (or quickly depending on how the year has gone for you) comes to a close I will be repeating this process, this ritual really, because I would like to begin 2013, my launch year, with all new, positive and proactive energy. It will be a time to start afresh, work hard, set myself up with great habits and get a ton of work done. I also find that because it’s so refreshing, that I would like to keep my personal energy at optimal levels.  A clean, beautiful workspace is essential to that.

If you believe in it, as I do, numerology has become a bit of a guiding force for this activity. Let me break it down for you.  Essentially our lives run on 9 year cycles and each year, given it’s number, correlates to different energies that usher in certain influences, opportunities and obstacles (this can be figured out for you by reducing the numbers in your birthdate and the current year into a single number).
You know I love me some good positive vibes, so this is totally up my alley.
Well this year has been my 9 year - typically known as the end of the cycle, a cleansing year before the start of the new cycle.  According to my research, it’s a time to get rid of anything that is unwanted or outworn.  For me this has meant working on myself as an individual, gearing myself away from old bad habits and towards new awesome ones, and really just leaving behind certain friendships that were no longer in line with who I am as a person - at times tough, but oh so necessary.  I don’t mean to sound cut throat, and I don’t think I am, but there does come a time in all of our lives where we just need to clean house in all areas of our lives.  I believe that these actions will set me up for Urban Minerals 2013 launch - my 1 year, the year for new beginnings, independence, creativity and courage - with only great success in my future.
As an opportunity to reflect it has also been super abundant, and I’m glad to say goodbye to the last 9 years.  I look forward to see what the next 9 will bring.
So, let me know if you’re into numerology, if you liked today’s post or have a question or comment.  I would love to know what you think.  Hit me up here on the blog, on twitter, @Urban_Minerals, or by email,
