So today I had another meeting with Ms. Rebecca and it went something like this; we sat down, talked a bit about some web stuff, and then got down to work on the logo.
A logo to me should represent everything that a company is. In actuality it is the header for all of your branding. It should quintessentially speak to your company in a way that is open to
So how do you do this? Well, if by branding you mean agonizing for hours on end, then yeah, maybe this is how you do it. A quick question had me asking how long other companies take for this kind of process. The answer: months to even years. It can effectively take a very, very, long time to figure out what face you want to present to the world.
If I go back to my second year Feminist Anthropology class, there was a discussion about Michel Foucault (a brilliant French political theorist, philosopher and Feminist) who said that women act a different part of themselves every day. The simple act of getting up in the morning, and deciding what clothes to don, what makeup to put on and how to wear our hair allows us to elect for any number of personas to show the world.
Much in the same way, Urban Minerals is going through that process. So far it’s been fun, (because we got to get our hands dirty and do some “painting” with mineral pigments), but outside of that it is kind of worrisome too. Making a decision like this is BIG, and will definitely have long lasting effects.
The name being twofold allows for a lot of room to play, but how far can I stretch, what boundaries to push, what concepts to bring out. How will people read it, what will they think? Will it make them see and feel what I want them to?
For now, I`m gonna work it out like anything else, sit down, think, write and visualize. Anything is possible and I just gotta remain open to the way that is being shown and remember that in the end it`s gonna be beautiful no matter what!
PS. Any encouragement is welcome!
